Okay, bookmark this one, y'all! I've created the ultimate cheat sheet for building up emotional connection with your kiddos of ALL ages! Many of the things listed on the 4 years and up page are things we still do daily with our 6, 8, and 11-year-old!
Here's the thing - when I ask clients how they're emotionally connecting and building attachment with their kiddos, I'm often met with a simple response like, "I give them hugs and meet their needs."
And while that's certainly a good start, there are so many other fun, easy ways to encourage connection and trust with our kids. Regardless of the age, my favorite way to connect is often the one we least choose - PLAY! Put those screens down, get on the floor together, and have FUN! Nothing builds closeness faster than this!
But, Allison...what if I don't like to play?!!
Remember that QUALITY TIME is more important than QUANTITY. 10 minutes of your undivided attention builds far more connection than two hours of simply existing in the same room scrolling different devices.
Do you have a favorite connection activity with your kiddos? Share it below! I'm always looking to add to my list!
